Comfortable Helmets?

I bought a schwinn helmet yesterday, but this thing does not have a soft fit around my forehead. Are helmets meant to be this uncomfortable? Anyway, I think that I'll look around for a softer one - surely there's one on the market out there -  whatever happened to a soft feeling against my skin while wearing a helmet or am I just asking for too much? Let me know if you can recommend one? Best, V.
